By far one of my most popular posts lately has been my post on how to make for your toddler who is learning to self feed. In keeping with the theme of easy toddler food ideas I am excited to bring you these amazing 3-ingredient toddler bites! They are incredibly easy to make and they taste really good too! Add in the fact that they are egg free, dairy free and flourless, and you’ve got a healthy toddler snack on your hands!
These are a great substitute for cookies too! Your toddler may think you are supplying them with a yummy cookie, but you’ll smile inside knowing that you are actually delivering a nutritious snack disguised as a cookie! When it comes to toddlers, having easy toddler food ideas on hand is always a must.
To make these 3-ingredient toddler bites you’ll need 3 simple ingredients:
- Two ripe bananas (old bananas work best!)
- 1 3/4 cup quick oats or Beech-Nut oatmeal
- 1Beech-NutColdpurée pouch, I used banana, blueberry & avocado but you can use any kind you wish!
I specifically useBeech-Nut organic Coldpurée pouches because they don’t add any unnecessary ingredients. They make their baby food the same way moms would make it in their own kitchens. They begin by puréeing their fruits and veggies cold to maintain nutrients and flavors. Then, they remove the air to maintain nature’s colors without adding any artificial preservatives. The purée is then gently cooked to maintain vibrant colors and natural textures. No other baby food company does it this way!
Begin by combining the 2 bananas and the quick cooking oats in a medium bowl.
Mash the bananas with a fork or potato masher until they are puréed and mixed together with the oats. Next, add in theBeech-NutColdpurée pouch and mix until well combined. If your mixture looks runny at all you can add in a little more oats until it holds together well.
Form the mixture into balls and drop them onto a baking sheet that is either greased or lined with a non-stick cooking mat. You may also add in any extra ingredients to change up the flavors as you like. I added some raisins to half of my batch and left the other half without. You can also add in other things like cinnamon, golden raisins, dried blueberries, or whatever you wish! Just make sure you add them in small amounts so the mixture still holds together in a ball when formed.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes. Allow to cool completely and then serve. My daughter thinks these taste like banana bread. She gobbles them up. All four of my kids (ages 2-8) LOVE these. I love that these are a healthy and nutritious snack that they think tastes like a treat! My uncle even stopped by after these came out of the oven and popped one in his mouth. He was a big fan! These aren’t just easy toddler food ideas, adults love them too!
One batch makes about 15 or so toddler bites depending on how big you make them. Since my youngest is 2 years old he does really well with bigger pieces. If your toddler is younger and is just learning to self-feed, I would advise making these into smaller balls and cutting the cooking time down.
TheBeech-Nut organic Coldpurée pouches come in a variety of flavors. I’m excited to try pairing their new pear, pumpkin and cranberry flavor with this recipe! One thing I love about this recipe is that you can easily change the flavor of the toddler bites by simply using different flavoredBeech-NutColdpurée pouches! Now you’ve got some easy toddler food ideas that can be whipped up in no time!
I recommend introducing these toddler snack bites once your toddler has begun learning to self-feed. Ensure that your child has already been introduced to each ingredient before serving this recipe. Youcan consult your pediatrician before starting a new stage of food.
Beech-Nut’s Coldpurée pouches are available at BabiesRUs.com and Amazon.com.
